A rich, comforting one-pan meal made with BBQ-sauced chicken, creamy ranch filling, crispy tater tots, and melted cheddar cheese—perfect for weeknights or sharing with friends.
2½ cups shredded cooked chicken
1 cup barbecue sauce
⅓ cup ranch dressing or 2 tbsp dry ranch seasoning
½ cup sour cream or cream cheese
1 small onion, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Preheat oven to 400°F.
If using, sauté onion and garlic in a greased oven-safe skillet until soft.
Add chicken, barbecue sauce, ranch, and sour cream. Stir to combine and heat through.
Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
Spread frozen tater tots evenly over the filling.
Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden and bubbling.
Add remaining cheese during the last 5 minutes of baking, if desired.
Rest for 5–10 minutes, garnish, and serve warm.
