Golden chicken breasts simmer in a rich basil cream sauce and are topped with melted mozzarella in this easy one-skillet meal.

Ingredients

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
4 slices mozzarella cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper.

  • Heat oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  • Lower heat to medium, add garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.

  • Pour in broth, scraping up browned bits.

  • Stir in cream and basil. Simmer for 3–4 minutes.

  • Return chicken to pan. Top with mozzarella.

  • Cover and cook until cheese melts, or broil briefly for browning.

  • Spoon sauce over chicken and serve hot.
