Rich, creamy garlic mashed potatoes with butter, cream, and tender potatoes, perfect for cozy meals.

Ingredients

2 pounds Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
6 cloves garlic
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup heavy cream or whole milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 1/4 cup sour cream or cream cheese
Optional: 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Place potatoes in a pot, cover with cold salted water.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15–20 minutes until tender.
  • Sauté garlic in butter over low heat until fragrant.
  • Drain potatoes and return to pot to remove excess moisture.
  • Mash using a ricer or masher.
  • Warm butter and cream, then fold into potatoes gradually.
  • Stir in garlic, salt, and pepper. Add optional sour cream if desired.
  • Adjust seasoning and serve immediately.
