2 medium apples, peeled and diced
1 tbsp unsalted butter (for sautéing)
2 tbsp brown sugar (for apples)
½ tsp ground cinnamon (for apples)
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
2 eggs
⅓ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
¾ cup milk
¼ cup melted butter
1½ tsp vanilla extract
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
In a skillet, cook diced apples with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until soft. Let cool.
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In another bowl, whisk eggs, both sugars, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
Combine wet and dry ingredients. Fold in the apple mixture.
Preheat and grease waffle iron. Spoon batter into sections.
Cook for 3–5 minutes until golden. Let cool slightly.
Whisk glaze ingredients. Dip or drizzle over donuts.
Let glaze set before serving.
