Delicious Greek-inspired pinwheels filled with spinach, feta, and aromatic herbs. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or party treat.
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
1 egg, beaten for egg wash
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, about 3–4 minutes, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a bowl, combine sautéed onion and garlic with spinach, feta, cream cheese, dill, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well.
Roll puff pastry into a 10×12 inch rectangle. Spread the filling evenly, leaving a small border around the edges.
Roll pastry into a tight log starting from one long side. Pinch seam to seal and trim ends. Slice into 1-inch pinwheels.
Place pinwheels on prepared baking sheet, brush tops with beaten egg.
Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving.
