The Ultimate Cheesy Sausage Stuffed Shells are packed with a creamy mixture of ricotta, mozzarella, and Italian sausage, baked in rich tomato sauce for a comforting and flavorful meal.
1 pound jumbo pasta shells
1 pound Italian sausage, removed from casing
1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 1/2 cups marinara or tomato pasta sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch dish.
Cook pasta shells until al dente. Drain and lightly oil.
Sauté onion 2–3 minutes, add garlic 30 seconds.
Add sausage, cook 7–10 minutes until browned. Cool slightly.
Combine ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Fold in sausage until well mixed.
Fill each shell with 2 tablespoons of mixture.
Spread 1 cup sauce in dish, arrange shells, pour remaining sauce over shells, top with remaining mozzarella.
Cover with foil, bake 25 minutes. Remove foil, bake 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.
